Jacksonville, FL, Got Milk? 3 v 3--Finalists

Less Trevor, the Rampage Green and Yellow pose together
for a post tournament photo. These guys definitely "Got Milk".

After a very hard fought championship game, Rampage
Yellow pose with the tournament champions, the Jacksonville, Spartans. The
two teams were ranked first and second in a pool of 16, and therefore qualify
for regional competition.
Summary
We took two teams to the Jacksonville, FL Got Milk? 3 v 3. This was a wet and will be a memorable tournament, particularly for Dean, one of our parents, who broke his leg slipping in the muck :-(
This was one of the larger 3 v 3 tournaments in Florida. Our teams competed in a pool of sixteen U9 3 v 3 teams. Because of the size of the group, we didn't come in with expectations of making it to the championship or even the championship round of eight with 15 competitors to deal with. But, as it turned out, both teams exceeded our expectations! Rampage Green went 2-0-1 on day one and entered the second day seeded 1st in one of four championship series games.
Rampage Yellow, lost their first game against the would be champion Spartans day one, but managed to win their next two games in order to enter the second day as a number two seed with a 2-1-0 record. Regardless of the outcome of the remainder of the tournament, both teams headed into the finals ranked in the top eight, which was success enough.
Rampage Green played two well fought games in the championship series, but came up short. However, they ended the tournament with a 2-2-1 record, which was impressive considering this was the first 3 v 3 tournament for 4 of 5 of our players. Connor led the Green team with 6 goals, Trevor and Tyler each managed 2, and Emilio landed 1. Trevor led the team with two assists and Joesph had one. It was an impressive showing for these 5 boys. Congratulations, all of you! Everyone on Rampage Green played with a lot of class and sportsmanship.
Rampage
Yellow came out on fire Sunday in the championship series. They managed
to knock off two very tough teams in the two games leading up to the championship
by a combined score of 16-4. They were optimistic heading into the final
game, but their opponents, the Spartans, were a handful. An experienced
and practiced 3 v 3 squad, they slipped by our back door all game, beat
us in a lot of 1 v 1 situations, and out-scored us 7-3 for a well deserved
championship. Everyone on Rampage Yellow got in the action this weekend.
Mitch led the team with 11 goals and one assist. Andy had 9 goals and led
the team with three assists. Travis managed 6 goals and 1 assist, Cameron
had 5 goals, and TJ knocked in 4 goals and had one assist. Equally
important all our kids played outstanding defense, particularly Cameron
and Andy who put on a great defensive stand all weekend. Congratulations,
Rampage Yellow! You made it out of a tough pool of 16 teams and ended the
weekend ranked second.
It was a weekend of rain, delays, complications, slipping and sliding (broken
bones... for spectators...), wins, loses, and a lot of hard work. Surely
a memorable experience... I hope that all of you take something positive
away from this one....
