It was a great day of soccer in Keystone. All three of our teams played and coached themselves very well. In one weekend our boys amassed an amazing 95 goals! More importantly winners and losers all had fun.

A few highlight comments about the tournament... Our yellow team was comprised of three new players and three under 9 players, but were still very competitive. They tied a very pumped BK Hurricanes in their first contest, lost a game to the Ocala Thunder II in a match that I think they could have won, and then gave the Rampage Blue team a run for their money in their third game. In that third game against the would-be-champions, our Yellow team took the lead and held on to it until just before half time when Blue tied the match at 4-4. But in the second half Blue played an awesome game to not only win their bracket, but also knocking their Yellow friends out of the semis. Despite the results, there was some really super play from Yellow. Danny was a great distributor of the ball and led his team in scoring. Chase was a 3v3 animal. James and Craig both played aggressive games up front creating a lot of scoring opportunities. And Jonathan and Pieter both played great games in the back as well as up front, and showed a lot excellent team work for having not played with us before. Despite not making it to the semis, Yellow gave us a great effort and were very fun to watch.

Our other two teams, Blue and White, managed to get through their brackets and the semi finals without a loss. The highlight match of the tournament was clearly the Championship game of White vs. Blue. White had dominated their opponents in their first four games, scoring 45 goals, with three matches having to be stopped early at the 12 point limit. Blue won their first four games by a signficant margin, but had appeared vulnerable at times. White seemed to have the momentum, but our more mature team had a lot of fire power. It was clearly going to be a great match. In the end, the score was irrelevant. Both teams played an excellent game and either team could have won. I honestly thought it was the most beautifully played game of 3v3 that I had seen all year. In particular, the team work was wonderful and there was also some great individual effort and creativity from both sides. Trevor and his right leg were amazing, knocking in three long distance game winning shots for blue. If we can carry that team work and focus into our full sided games coming up in two weeks, the Rampage will be tough for anyone to handle. Congratulations to both teams for an exceptional Championship match!

After each tournament we select a player of the game to receive our Sportsmanship Award. For his attitude and performance at the Keystone 3v3, our 10th Sportsmanship award goes to Landon S. who gave his team an extremely unselfish performance and provided quiet, positive leadership both on the field and on the sidelines. Congratulations, Landon, and to all 16 players that traveled to Keystone with us!
