It was a great weekend of cold, rainy soccer at Ormond Beach. The Rampage played a wonderful first three games, out shooting their opponents overall 41-16. Although they dropped their first game to an excellent Tallahassee United squad, the kids certainly played well enough to get the result, outshooting TUFC 11-2.
A 2-1 record was enough to get the Rampage to the championship. It was a hard fought final that ended in a in a 1-1 tie, double overtime against TUFC. It was a tough loss to swallow having gone up momentarily 2-1 at the end of regulation. So it came down to PKs, which is always a 50/50 shot for this age group. TUFC managed to put away all of their shots to give them the OT victory.
Despite the loss at the end, I was very proud of the way our kids played. They played with great effort and intelligence, as well as their usual level of class. This tournament we gave the Sportsman of the Tournament Award to Trace who played a phenomenal game in the back for us. Well done Trace and well done Rampage.
