We've come a long way since the 2002 Black Watch tournament where we were hammered 8-0 in our first game ever against Weston, and managed to score 0 goals in 3 games. The boys on that original team remember it well and understand how much effort and practice and determination it took to go from that disorganized group of rec players to the team we have today.

The Rampage played four fantastic games this weekend. We played a flat back four 4-3-3 in games 1, 2, and 3 and remarkably allowed only 3 goals against some physically superior competition. In the championship we met up with our friends from Orange County, a super athletic and intelligent team that out played us for most of the match and earned a well deserve victory. We played a flat back 4-5-1 in the first half to try to save our legs an managed to be down 1-0 at the half. Knowing we had to put the ball in the back of the net we went back to the 4-3-3 and succeed in scoring off a nice assist from Trevor to TJ, but we didn't have the legs to keep up with OCS for the balance of the half. Although we didn't get the result in the final, this was a championship weekend for the Rampage and a great success non the less.

Each tournament we select a sportsman of the tournament. This weekend we selected Taylor, who has come as far as any player on the Rampage since our first game against Weston. Overcoming his personal handicaps and peer pressure to be himself (i.e., the team entertainer:-) Taylor helped focus his team all week in preparation for BW and was a cornerstone of our flat back four. Congratulation to Taylor and to all 13-1/2 players that traveled to the tournament this weekend. You've earned respect. It is a BIG deal to make it to the finals at Black Watch. Don't rest on this success though....
