Very simply, the Vampires were on fire all weekend and played some of the most beautiful 3v3 you can ask for. We moved them up into the U12 bracket to give them a bigger challenge (as well as avoid having Rampage vs. Rampage games.) It wasn't a cake walk. The Valdosta Mercury were a big, powerful, and very aggressive team that didn't appear to be accustomed to losing. They drew blood early in game one, but the Vampires snuck back from a 5-2 deficit to win game 1. Our boys put on a clinic through the entire tournament and played incredible heady soccer. (Their team mates from the skulls were certainly proud.) The Vampires didn't cloak any talents and drove their opponents batty, managing to knock in an amazing 44 goals in five games, and took the Championship with a great deal of class.
The Vampires' player-coach, Mitchell, selected Cameron as the Sportsman of the tournament for his unselfish play and determination, as well as his team photo (see any vampire resemblance?). A great selection. All five boys played phenomenal soccer all weekend and were a blast to watch. Congratulations, Vampires!
